phase 2: silver lake blvd path

Two community meetings were held in August and September of 2005 to discuss parameters for Phase 2 of the Master Plan. Phase 2 serves as a contnuation of the new path on West Silver Lake Drive and Armstrong Avenue. It will be constructed inside the existing fence which will be relocated to a new alignment between the path and the reservoir water. The exisitng bike path and roadside buffer zone at street level with the boulevard will remain unchanged. Mia Lehrer + Associates (MLA) presented schematic designs for a decomposed granite path next to the existing bicycle and traffic lanes on Silver Lake Blvd. from Armstrong Avenue to the dog park. Construction documents for the proposed path project began in October of 2005 with the participation of the LADWP, Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering (BOE), City Council President Eric Garcetti's office in Council District 13, and the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. The project is made possible with funding secured by State Assemblymember Dario Frommer the City of Los Angeles, and the LADWP.
The Notice of Intent and a Negative Declaration for the project were prepared by the BOE. The community participated in the Public Comments process which ran from May 11th until May 31st, 2006.
A presentation by the Board of Engineering was held during the General Board Meeting of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council on June 7th, 2006 at 7:00 PM in the Micheltorena School Auditorium. A .pdf of the Presentation Boards which show the Preliminary Design of the path alignment and the tree report is available here.
