water quality projects: slip-lining project
The main water line that brings water from the Silver Lake Reservoir to customers in Downtown and South Los Angeles is in need of repair. This repair will be accomplished with a process known as slip-lining, where pits are dug at intervals and pipes are cut open. A length of new pipe is pushed into the existing pipe, shoring up the old pipe.
Slip-lining will take place in three phases: Phase 1, on Coronado Street from Sunset Blvd. to Bellevue, is slated to begin in late 2005 and be completed by late 2006.
Phase 2 will run along Sunset from Coronado west to Parkman Avenue and is slated to begin in late 2006 and be completed in summer 2007.
Phase 3, if required, will run under Silver Lake Blvd. between Sunset and Effie Street, and is scheduled to start in late 2007 through summer 2008.
